Taheebo or Pau D' Arco extract
|
The Federal Food and Drug Act does not allow Taheebo to be advertised or sold as a treatment, prevention or cure for certain diseases such as cancer.
In light of this statement made by the Federal Food and Drug Act, the following studies have been found. According to USDA research on Taheebo, it has been discovered that it contains Vitamin K. Vitamin K is an essential Vitamin because it cannot be produced directly by the body. Vitamin K can be produced by bacteria in the intestinal track which supplies only part of the Vitamin K requirements. Vitamin K is known as the “clotting” Vitamin as blood cannot clot without it. It is an established fact that cancer cells grow uncontrollably and are not programmed for cellular death “apoptosis”. Studies have been done that show that an ingredient in Taheebo called beta-Lapachone induces growth inhibition and programmed cellular death in bladder cancer cells. For further information see:
Some research has been conducted along the lines of how Beta-Lapachone interferes with the replication of HIV-1 an AIDS causing virus. For further information see: University of Texas Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology |
